Veterinarian

Job Description

We’re a small local business (non-corporate) in the centre of Canberra. Canberra is great – really. Great food and coffee, great National Parks, great museums and galleries and great clients and snow and surf just an easy drive away! We believe in compassionate client care and high standard pet care. We believe in a kind and supportive workplace with great work-life balance. We believe in encouraging your special interests and helping you develop your professional skills and will invest in your further study and skill diversification. This position is available as we just keep growing – this time with vet babies!

We are a team of passionate, fun and supportive vets, nurses, kennel hands and receptionists. We advocate and aim for fear-free veterinary care.  Our clinic is an ISFM Gold Accredited Cat-Friendly Clinic and is built to ASAVA practice standards.   Existing vets have memberships in small animal medicine, feline medicine and small animal dentistry, a grad certificate in small animal emergency and critical care and have undertaken CVE distance education certificates in cardio-respiratory medicine, neurology, ophthalmology, behaviour and imaging. The successful candidate will have an excellent support system in place to encourage skill development and any special interests. The clinic team enjoys working in a collaborative fashion.   Our veterinary team enjoys sharing knowledge and discussing cases.   We have fabulous clients who are willing to work cases up and frequently take up the offer of specialist referral. Canberra’s high median income and education rates (combined with relative job stability despite Covid-19) allow us to concentrate on doing the best job possible.

The clinic has two sterile surgeries, separate digital radiography and ultrasonography rooms, separate cat and dog consulting rooms and wards, oxygen cages, heated cages, tonometer, capnography heated inspired air units and dental and surgical BAIR hugger units for anaesthetic warming, ETCO2 monitors and a dedicated dental suite with two dental tables, both with dental radiography. We practice fear free veterinary care and run Feliway and Adaptil pheromones and use treats, roast chicken and squeeze cheese to befriend our patients.
